The time may be near for a young boy suffering from a rare disease, his mother Audrey Garcia said Friday. Two years ago this week, Raul Garcia was diagnosed with a rare nerve disease, called Adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD. Raul was just 8 years old when Audrey Garcia noticed that he was having extreme difficulty working on his homework and other tasks he normally performed well and easily.

Named Grand Marshal for Calvin Coolidge Days, 2009, is Raul Garcia. An integral part in the school system for both the Kenilworth School and Coolidge High School, Garcia held nearly every position available throughout his 32 years as an educator.
